Illiterates is going on tour, AGAIN. This weekend. Bah! Norfolk, Charlotte, and Roanoke. Possibly in that order. The Norfolk line-up is stacked to the gills. I'm 30 so I can't slam to every band so maybe I will perhaps just pick 2. I don't believe we've been to any of these cities before besides Charlotte so it will be a goddamn experience. Playing in Norfolk feels like its been a long time in the making and I can't speak for everyone but I am excited to see some good friends, including but not limited to members of BALLISTIX. ALSO, Illiterates has a new LP out called "Does Not Compute", on Sorry State Records. Our singer Lawson got those words tattooed on his head. Dang! It may or may not be some of best songs yet, but it certainly is the most well recorded LP that we've done. I think it rules. It comes with a word search.

 

 

 

 

Illiterates are also going to Europe in October! Bloody hell! We are very grateful and excited to see what the multiple countries are like. Not sure if there is hardcore over there or not but we will report back. Thank you Izzy for the flier.

With 4 unremarkable gigs under their belt, a few Pittsburgh locals have compared United Stare to Rites of Spring, AC/DC, and Radio Birdman. They are nowhere as good as any of those bands, and was actually trying to sound like Husker Du, which they were told they do not sound like at all. The first song is almost 6 minutes long and is not a good representation of the overall sound of this tape, which is essentially just Punk but not Hardcore. The subject of the lyrics includes driving to work, not knowing how to talk to people, killing yourself, and following someone around at night. The band name is a play on the phrase “United States”, where the band is from

 Remember hardcore? Before everyone was wearing hats? Using the phrase 2 stepping? Being commanded to "side to side" by a guy wearing glasses? Before ill informed zines framed by black and white brick walls? Vaping and Door Dash?

 

EKGs don't, and they don't care. Meth head goldfish attention span song lengths backed with pure hardcore velocity, EKG's provide a real deal hardcore situation that only Pittsburgh could produce. Music straight from fucking hell performed by people under the age of 40.

 Good morning fuckers. A lot of brand new shit going on. Always and all the time. Even though it don't seem like it. Something always happening. Twist playing the guitar backwards up there.

Firstly, Speed Plans is going to California, yeah that's right. March 13th - 24th. Be there. We're playing most of the bigger cities over there. A lot of people questioned why we're only playing the state of California and the answer is because to drive upwards or to the right or in any other direct would cost more money in gas but the real reason is because we want to spend 9 days in California. Very grateful for everyone who hooked us up with a gig and has given us advice on how to pursue flying on a plane to play hardcore. Only got fliers so far for 3 of the gigs so thats what I'm postin.

 

 

EKGs, Nasty Nancy, and Speed Plans are all playing Ripper or Tard Fest in Cleveland in February as well.

EKGs tape should be out by the time we play that.

 

Illiterates is playing both York and New York at the end of March. Both damn Yorks.

LP3 is right on the way.

 

God Plutonium is recording their 15 song LP TODAY, so who knows when that'll be out.

United Stare 7 song tape should be out soon too. Non-core rock n roll.

 What's going on brothas and sistas? Does anybody read this? Someone told me in real life that they did and i couldn't believe it! A lot of gigs coming up in town this Summer 24'. Besides Speed Plans playing in Dayton July 19th with Negative Approach, all of these fliers are for gigs in Pittsburgh. Red hot goddamn summer. Skull Fest punk rock mayhem. A lot of these are at The Courts so I'm hoping it doesn't rain. On those days. 

Snarling Dogs 2nd EP coming to tape soon here. I saw them open for The Spits on 4th of July and none of the metal heads were that into it but they were great.

Speed Plans planning to tour in November. Cleveland, Milwaukee, and Chicago. Also trying to figure out a west coast tour in March for a 7" that will be coming out on a different label that more people give a shit about. Also pretty got another new 7" written.

 Illiterates got a new LP recorded that should be out this year maybe.

EKG's is a new band that got a demo coming out this year maybe.

 Seattle, Vancouver, Portland, Vernon and all that shit.

Excited to play with Alienator. Last time they played in Pittsburgh, Christian fell on the skate ramp and got a concussion before Alienator played so I had to take him to the hospital.

All I remember they were tall and bald.
